Total Community Care: SIA Ruby Corporate Partner

Total Community Care (TCC) was formed by Chris Freestone and Reg Perrins in 2006 to provide specialist care services for people with a SCI.  Since that time TCC has successfully provided support and care for over 50 individuals - or clients, with a high level SCI, in their own homes and have a current workforce of over 200 staff.  Nearly all of the clients receive 24 hour care.

TCC believe that having highly trained and supported staff is central to ensuring that clients receive the best possible care.  We feel it is essential that individuals retain as much control of their care package as possible and in particular with respect to the staff coming into their homes.

All clients are involved in the advertising, recruitment and selection of their own care teams.   Staff members who are recruited are then contracted to the client and form a part of a small team of dedicated workers charged with the responsibility of providing support for the client in all eventualities. Clients are supported by the same team members from hospital to holidays around the world. All staff complete a course of mandatory training followed by tailored training to the needs of the individual client. This is provided by a team of nurses and trainers with SCI specific qualifications.

TCC follow a case manager led approach which ensures that each individual client has a named person who directly represents TCC at all times.  Staff are paid on an hourly basis which means they receive considerably more than if on a daily allowance, helping with staff retention, and are self-sufficient so there are no hidden costs.

Our services are provided in range of areas throughout the country working with CCGs, legal firms and case managers alike.

TCC are proud to be active supporters of the SIA; recently having sponsored the best case manager category in the successful Rebuilding Lives event last month.  Congratulations to the three finalists and to the eventual winner Sarah Himsley of Bush & Co.  In the same month one of the directors Reg Perrins was part of the 40th anniversary London to Paris cycle ride with three hand cyclists, raising over £50,000 in the process for SIA.

We are delighted to be the Ruby partners of SIA this month and are looking forward to continuing to work within the SCI community in future years.
